Learn how to track your own business revenue and expenses properly utilizing a computerized accounting program. This comprehensive bookkeeping course is invaluable to your business success and can be scheduled at your convenience. Participants have the option to enrol in the Deluxe program (16 sessions includes accounting software), Full program (14 sessions) or the Light program (7 sessions). You will develop the knowledge and skills to track your financial performance efficiently. Our certified trainers provide practical hands-on instruction that is customized to YOU and YOUR business needs – learn full-cycle bookkeeping using your own company books and entering real transactions from your business, not a sample company. The curriculum is summarized as follows:

 

  1. Overview of accounting principles and terms; review existing accounting processes; discuss goals and desired outcomes; recommend best accounting program based on business needs.
  1. Install program, set up company info, customize chart of accounts, link accounts, and enter opening balances from previously filed financials.
  1. Process sales invoices, customer payments, bank deposits.  Design customized invoice template if required.  Set up job costing (optional).  Generate accounts receivable tracking reports and client history analysis reports.
  1. Enter supplier invoices, bill payments, debit credit card purchases and payments,   recurring transactions.  Set up job costing (optional).   Generate accounts payable tracking reports and vendor history analysis reports.
  1. Analyze HST/GST tracking accounts and how to process/file HST/GST returns using general ledger detail and balance information.
  1. Perform bank and credit card reconciliation in accounting system from monthly bank/credit card statements.
  1. Generate standard financial reports for monitoring cash flow and profitability performance.  Review management reports available in the accounting software program.
  1. Yearend reconciliations and preparation of package for accountant’s review.   Develop the checklist of steps and must-do tasks to ensure the books are organized and accurate for the accountant’s financials and tax return preparation.
  1. Set up payroll employees and payroll items.  Process payroll and payroll tax remittance.   Review payroll reports, liability reports, T4s, and ROEs.  Businesses with no employees will receive customized one-on-one coaching.
  1. Set up inventory control system including inventory items and linked accounts.  Generate inventory profitability analysis reports.  Businesses with no inventory will receive customized one-on-one coaching.
  1. Coaching  -  review work and touch on time-saving shortcuts

  2. Coaching  -  review work and touch on KPIs and regular analysis of financial statements

  3. Coaching  -  review work and touch on government tax tracking and liabilities

  4. Coaching  -  review work and focus on client questions or problem

  5. Coaching – fully customized for any issue(s) requiring additional attention

  6. Coaching & Support – fully customized for any issue(s) requiring additional attention
